Race Team Dues

January 3, 2023

Sail Sand Point is utilizing a tiered approach for collecting dues for our youth racing programs (High School Sailing, Middle School Sailing, Opti Sailing, Summer Race Teams). Families can choose between paying market rate, a more supportive rate, or can request a subsidized rate, or apply for a scholarship. Please refer to the below chart to choose what is best for your family (on mobile devices you can click on the chart to get a better view).

Note: Families are not beholden to pay at the same tier over multiple seasons. Likewise, the tier a family chooses will have no impact on their sailor’s standing in the program. If a family wises to pay dues at a lower tier and instead donate to the organization at an amount and at a time of their choosing that is a supported option, tax-deductible donations to Sail Sand Point can be made here.

Registration for Spring 2023 will be held in early February through Active Network.

Normally dues are requested prior to the season in the team info / welcome email and are due by the end of the second week of practice. Please do not pay dues for upcoming seasons, until you received email notification that your sailor has a confirmed roster spot on the corresponding team.

  • These tier levels require some additional documentation to be submitted, see above chart for more info.
  • Sail Sand Point is proud to offer half scholarships to any youth racing participants in need, and will work with you to find an appropriate level of financial commitment if that amount is still a financial burden. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please submit a Youth Racing Scholarship Application, and we will be in touch.

A class for adults (ages 14+) who would like to try out sailing without committing to a full class. Hobie Wave Experience will run each Wednesday and Sunday, 6-8 PM starting after Memorial Day.  Register here!

This class is a quick introduction to sailing the Hobie Wave, also known as the “sailboat with training wheels.” In two hours, it will give people a taste of small boat sailing on a simple and safe platform. Our goal with this class is to provide adventurous folks an inexpensive opportunity to sail and potentially pass the skills proficiency test after just a class or two. once you pass the skills test you can continue to sail and grow on your own outside of class. We will cover basic sailing theory, tacking and gybing, rigging, and capsizing on the 14′ Hobie Wave catamaran. If there is no wind we will take to the water on paddleboards and/or kayaks.
