RACE NIGHTS AT SSP

Mixed Fleet Monday Night Racing

Sailors looking to hone their skills, make new friends, or just enjoy an evening on the water are invited to participate in Sail Sand Point’s casual summer racing series. No reservations are necessary for race nights and sailors are welcome to drop in any week during the summer to participate.

Sail Sand Point hosts informal Mixed Fleet racing on Monday nights at 5:30 PM during the late spring through summer, and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM during the spring (First 2024 race night will be 3PM on Sunday April 21) .

Any type of sailboat can participate and no scores are recorded. Following the racing there is often a BBQ where racers provide sides and SSP provides burgers and hot dogs. There is no fee to race, although SSP does suggest a $5 contribution, especially for those eating off the grill.

Participants that wish to rent SSP boats will have to do so through an online reservation process, and we will build out our Open Boating (OB) sessions to best cater to racers.

On Mondays during the summer Open Boating staff will place a mark at  around 5:00 PM. Rigging begins around 5:30 PM and the first start is close to 6:00 PM. On Mondays, OB will run until 7:30pm through late-May, and then move to 8:30pm from Memorial Day through early fall. The mark will be pulled and all SSP boats must be derigged and checked in by closing time.
