ADAPTIVE SAILING

Adaptive Sailing

Adaptive Sailing is fully integrated into Sail Sand Point’s programming.

Sail Sand Point is constantly striving to make boating more accessible to the Seattle community. While we don’t currently have many of the more advanced sailing and paddling adaptations, we would love to work with you to get you out on the water! Below is more information on what we currently offer for adaptive sailing.

Adaptive Sailing Night at SSP

Sail Sand Point is hosting an adaptive sailing night for individuals with disabilities to try sailing. On August 5th from 6-8pm we will have volunteers skippering boats, games on the pier, and a potluck style BBQ. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the form below. Space is limited and we will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible.

Boat Recommendations

2.4 Meter

The 2.4 meter offers optimal stability in a single-handed boat with its 400 lb keel. This boat has been the top choice for individuals with physical disabilities for years, even making an appearance in the paralympics for many years. This can be as tactical, technical, and fast as you want it to be.

This boat does not require switching sides, controls are in front of the individual, and seating options can be added easily making it ideal for individuals with mobility difficulties.
