Junior Explorers
Ages 8-11 (No experience necessary.)
Junior Explorers, aimed at kids aged 8-11, is a vibrant part of our diverse sailing and water activity offerings at Lake Washington. This camp incorporates catamarans, kayaks, and SUPs into its curriculum. While basic sailing techniques are a component of the camp, the main focus is on adventure and exploration. On days when the wind doesn’t cooperate for sailing, kayaks and paddleboards offer a fantastic alternative, keeping the excitement and interaction with the water alive. Junior Explorers is all about creating a fun, sun-filled environment that nurtures a young person’s love for outdoor water activities.

Youth Beginner
Ages 8-12 (No experience necessary.)
This repeatable camp puts kids in the driver’s seat of their own Optimist dinghy, where sailors will develop the basic skills for a strong sailing foundation. By the end of camp, most sailors will be able to rig an Opti and control it in light breeze.

Youth Doublehand
Ages 11-14 (Prerequisite: Youth Beginner or Junior Explorers.)
This camp is a next level step for a sailor who has taken Youth Beginner or Junior Explorers, who is in-between our Youth and Teen age ranges. Taught in our RS Feva dinghies, this camp introduces doublehanded sailing (two sailors per boat) at a basic level for kids wanting to learn more. The focus of this camp will be on learning both crew and skipper roles, and building teamwork in the boat as well as a solid sailing foundation.

Youth Racing
Ages 9-13 (Prerequisite: Youth Intermediate or SPOT.)
This introductory camp explores the basics of Opti dinghy racing. Sailors will learn the basics of proper race techniques from rigging race sails to roll tacks. This camp is for sailors interested in joining the Sail Sand Point Opti Team (SPOT) or for sailors with a little bit of competitiveness in them. The primary focus will be on racing, honing skills and unleashing potential.
