Who We Are
Our Mission and History
“Sail Sand Point’s mission is to bring the joy and life-enhancing benefits of sailing and small boats to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds…”
September: a month for back-to-school, PSLs if you`re into those, watching the first leaves change color... and learning to sail! That`s right, we`ve added two additional Tues/Thurs sessions of Adult 101 to the calendar in September! If you ask us, September is a PERFECT month for sailing. See you there!

Unfortunately, due to wildfire smoke, we`ve made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow`s Nature Night event, Open Boating rentals, and tomorrow`s Hobie Wave Experience (Wednesday, August 5th.) We didn`t want to have to post this, but we can hardly see the lake!
While regional air quality readings are only just hitting our cancellation threshold, smoke has settled heavily over Pontiac Bay, and conditions at Sail Sand Point are significantly smokier than they appear elsewhere. Because all of these activities involve spending extended time outdoors, we`re prioritizing the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff.
We were looking forward to a fun evening of kayaking and learning about local wildlife at the Nature Night event, and we`ll share a rescheduled date when we can. We hope to open our usual sailing programs as soon as it`s safer to do so as well.
Thank you for your understanding! Stay safe!

Next up in our summer event series is this Thursday: SUP with a Pup! Bring a dog and get a FREE paddle craft rental from 5PM to 8PM during this classic SSP event. No dog (or maybe you have a dog that would hate this?) but still want to hit the water? We`ll be doing free sailboat rides as well. Sign ups begin at 5PM and will go until we run out of boats.
BBQ starts at 5:30!
Please note that we don`t recommend this event if you are uncomfortable with water or dogs. Infants and small babies should stay on land as well!
