Teen Beginner

Ages 12-16 (No experience necessary.)
This repeatable camp is for younger teen sailors new to the sport. Taught in RS Quests, a 2-3 person sailing dinghy, Teen Beginner will teach sailing fundamentals and the teamwork (and fun!) of sailing a boat with multiple people.
M-F 9am-4pm

Adventure Camp

Ages 11-14 (No experience necessary.)
This program is very similar to our Junior Explorers camp, but for a slightly older age group. In this camp sailors will explore Lake Washington on a variety of vessels, while learning the basics of sailing, safety on the water and having fun!
Campers will have the opportunity to visit various destinations around the lake while sailing our Hobie Wave catamarans, Stand Up Paddle boarding and Kayaking. This is a great camp for kids wanting to get on the water and have fun!
M-F 9am-4pm

Teen Intermediate

Ages 13-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Beginner or equivalent.)

For sailors confident in the skills taught in Teen Beginner, this camp introduces new skills in a fun and challenging double-handed boat, the Flying Junior (FJ). These boats are common throughout the United States as one of the foundational platforms for youth sailing and racing!
Sailors will build confidence sailing upwind and downwind in medium breeze, and develop the strong boat-handling skills that become necessary in a higher performance dinghy.

Keelboat Sailing

Ages 14-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Beginner or equivalent.)

For sailors amply familiar with skills covered in Teen Beginner, this camp gets sailors working as a team on our performance keelboats, the SB3. With an on-board instructor, sailors will learn more complex sail controls, the different roles of a keelboat crew, and the basics of flying an asymmetrical spinnaker.

Laser Beginner

Ages 12-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Beginner or equivalent.)
(Must weigh at least 95 lbs.)
For sailors confident in the basic skills covered in Youth or Teen Beginner, this camp introduces performance singlehanded sailing in the Laser, the most popular sailing dinghy in the world.
This camp will teach the basics of Laser rigging and boathandling and help developing sailors improve their independence, confidence, and skills on the water.

Performance Sailing

Ages 14-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Intermediate or equivalent.)
(Must weigh at least 95 lbs.)

This camp elevates sailing to an exhilarating level with the many different performance boats and boards in the SSP fleet. Sailors refine their technical skills, learning to maneuver these fast-paced vessels with precision and control. Designed for those eager to push their sailing abilities and revel in the thrill of performance sailing, blending high-speed adventure with personal growth and skill enhancement.

Sailing into STEM

Ages 12-15 (No experience necessary.)
Perfect for new or returning sailors with curious minds, this camp combines sailing with science. While developing basic sailing skills, campers will learn how physics, simple machines, and the natural forces of wind and water power a sailboat.

Youth Doublehand

Ages 11-14 (Youth Beginner or Junior Explorers)

This camp is a next level step for a sailor who has taken Youth Beginner or Junior Explorers, who is in-between our Youth and Teen age ranges. Taught in our RS Feva dinghies, this camp introduces doublehanded sailing (two sailors per boat) at a basic level for kids wanting to learn more.

The focus of this camp will be on learning both crew and skipper roles, and building teamwork in the boat as well as a solid sailing foundation.
This camp is repeatable, but sailors with more confidence who meet the age requirements can also graduate to our Teen Beginner/Intermediate or Keelboat camps.

Lake Cruising

Ages 14-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Beginner.)

Spend the week exploring Lake Washington on a J24. During this camp sailors will have the opportunity to learn the basics of navigating, anchoring and planning a trip around the lake. With an instructor on board, sailors will go to a new spot on the lake each day and plan the trip themselves. This experience will allow them to learn a new skill in sailing, one that can carry with them on bigger boats.

Teen Racing

Ages 12-17 (Prerequisite: Teen Intermediate or SPYS.)

Sailors interested in learning more techniques on the Flying Junior (FJ), this camp will help you explore specific skills for FJ racing. In this camp, time will be spent learning the basics and proper skills to race an FJ. After taking this camp sailors will be able to roll tack, understand starts, have a more in depth understanding of the Rules of Racing and more.
