Summer Camp Volunteer Instructors
Sail Sand Point’s Sail Camp Volunteer program offers young adults the opportunity to work in a professional sailing instruction environment by supporting the summer camps and outreach programs at Sail Sand Point. Participants volunteer their time, enthusiasm, and burgeoning instructional skills for a week at a time, Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. They assist the camp instructors with setting up for classes and clean up each day, provide support to instructors, including but not limited to playing games with kids, taking kids to the restrooms, encouraging kids during the swim check, providing assistance to kids that need additional attention, and preparing and teaching lessons at the discretion of the instructor, among other exciting and varying responsibilities that change on a daily basis! This is a great way for former or current Sail Sand Point campers to use their knowledge to help improve camps and activities, as well as a good next step in the pathway to becoming a sailing instructor.
Sail Camp Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, have taken three years of camp or equivalent, be reliable, have a good attitude about working, and be enthusiastic about sharing their love of sailing! Sail Sand Point requests a commitment of at least two weeks over the course of the summer, Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.
