Be a Champion for Sail Sand Point on Tuesday, May 5th with the help of the Seattle Foundation! Give BIG (or little) – everything counts! – and your donations will be stretched thanks to additional funds from the Seattle Foundation and individual and corporate sponsors.
Sail Sand Point’s Board of Directors has also generously committed to matching $5,500 in donations made to Sail Sand Point through GiveBIG on May 5th! This means if our community donates up to $5,500 on GiveBIG, the Board of Directors matching pledge will DOUBLE that amount for a total of $11,000. We hope that you will consider showing your support for us on May 5th.
Sail Sand Point’s mission is to make sailing and water recreation accessible for all, with a special emphasis on youth. We strive to be a Champion for the greater Seattle community by removing traditional barriers to water access for everyone, regardless of age, background, or ability. We accomplish this by focusing on the development of a lifelong passion for sailing and the water, and nurturing the character qualities of self-confidence, leadership, and environmental stewardship.
In 2014, over 6,300 members of the community participated in one of Sail Sand Point’s programs! We have never turned anyone any from participating in our of our programs due to financial limitations, and we plan on keeping it that way. In 2014, we rewarded 34 Learn-to-Sail scholarships and 19 Outreach scholarships with an approximate overall value of $14,000+. Your support will help us continue to provide this critical funding, so that no one is prevented from participating in one of our programs!
