2011 Boat Access/Storage
The SSP Boat Storage Yard has space for kayaks and canoes. At this time the Storage Yard and waitlist for boat storage are full. This page will be updated when space for boats becomes available.
General Information:
The access/storage areas at Sail Sand Point have been expanded and space is now available. Store your boat, mast up and be on beautiful Lake Washington in minutes. The uncovered storage areas are intended for actively used non-motorized, hand launched boats. This includes sailboats, canoes, rowboats, sculls and kayaks, and anything else you can come up with. This is NOT long term storage, but rather storage designed for use and access. If you plan to leave your boat without using it, this is not the place for you. Storage is located at the north end of Sand Point Magnuson Park on the western shore of Lake Washington. Renters have the combination of the locks, unrestricted access to their boats
Boat Storage Fee:
The annual boat storage costs are: Length times width times $3.95 plus $10.00 admin. The length and width in feet, shall include all space used including the trailer or other equipment. A second (or third boat) boat which fits entirely under or over your first boat may be stored with the first boat, provided that it takes no additional ground space. A separate contract is needed for every boat, and a $10 fee will be charged for each boats., and the indoor restrooms and changing rooms.
Locker Fee:
We a have a small, but growing, number of lockers available. You use your lock and maintain total control. Locker rentals are from January 1st through December 31st and cost $175/year.
Access:
You have 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year access to your boat. There is a parks department impediment under the NOAA road, and you must walk in from 10:00pm to 4:00am.
Boat owners need to be aware that launching may be limited due to Sail Sand Point classes and clinics, which have priority use. Busy times are June to August, around 9, 12 & 4 on weekdays, and 1 to 5 on Saturdays. Patience is required during these times, but we can usually get everybody in and out without difficulty.
Launching:
Launching is available from any of the three ramps that line up with the boat storage area. Boats must be unpowered and small enough to hand launch from the trailer or carrier onto the beach or float.
Billing:
Yearly contracts will be sent out each January. If you first move into the yard after October 1, the annual fee for the current year is reduced by 75%.
Abandoned Boats:
Boats without contract for the current year are subject to impound and claims/sale, regardless of FMV and amount owed.
Boat Storage Contract:
